Reduce Your Distractions on the Road

Distracted driving can make the road deadly for you, your passengers, and other drivers. To avoid distracted driving you must first understand what the different types are. The main types of driving distractions are:

  • Visual - taking your eyes off of the road.
  • Manual - taking your hands off of the steering wheel.
  • Cognitive - when your mind gets off the task of driving.

Distracted driving actions include:

  • Talking on the phone
  • Eating and/or drinking
  • Grooming
  • Send and/or reading text messages
  • Changing the radio station
  • Looking at your GPS or phone for directions

Getting rid of all, or most, of these bad habits will increase the level of safety for you and the safety of those around you. States have even started making laws against certain forms of distracted driving. So take your time, turn your phone off, and stay alert while driving.
