Slated for a short but memorable run, the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R will be the last special edition of the automaker's rotary sports model. Mazda has decided to cap off production at a max of one thousand units and will introduce the Spirit R edition in Japan, at the beginning of this November. Manufacturing of this model is expected to end in June of next year, Dyer Mazda predicts that the RX-8 Spirit R will thrive during its time in the market.
The Mazda RX-8 has a sleek appearance with its bronze alloy wheels, Sparkling Black Mica, Aluminum Metallic, and Crystal White Pear Mica exterior hue options. Climb inside of this vehicle and you will enjoy the comfort of the specially-designed sport SPIRIT R bucket seats from RECARO.
In terms of the vehicle's overall driving experience, Mazda has not made any significant changes for the last RX-8 model. But, Mazda's curtain and front side SRS airbag system is now a standard feature and no longer a factory-installed option. The selling price for this model starts at $40,675 with a six-speed automatic transmission and bump up a few notches to $42,400 with a six-speed manual transmission.
"Although RX-8 production is ending, the rotary engine will always represent the spirit of Mazda and Mazda remains committed to its ongoing development,"1 says Mazda president and CEO Takashi Yamanouchi.Part of the automaker's "ongoing development" includes exciting new technologies such as the introduction of super-strength steel in next year's Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. The use of this 1,800 MPA steel allows for thinner vehicle parts and therefore hefty savings in vehicle weight.
Unfortunately, the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R won't be available at Dyer Mazda - 999 U.S. Highway 1 Vero Beach, FL - or anywhere else in the U.S. However, we do invite you to test drive any of our exciting new Mazda models available to you today.
